Apple Inc. stock rises Thursday, still underperforms market
Shares of Apple Inc. inched 0.91% higher to $143.29 Thursday, on what proved to be an all-around favorable trading session for the stock market, with the NASDAQ Composite Index rising 1.05% to 14,654.02 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.98% to 34,754.94. This was the stock's third consecutive day of gains. Apple Inc. closed $13.97 below its 52-week high ($157.26), which the company achieved on September 7th.
The stock demonstrated a mixed performance when compared to some of its competitors Thursday, as Microsoft Corp. rose 0.59% to $294.85, Alphabet Inc. Cl A rose 1.21% to $2,784.50, and International Business Machines Corp. fell 0.39% to $141.81. Trading volume (61.1 M) remained 13.8 million below its 50-day average volume of 74.9 M.
