Public Storage stock rises Monday, outperforms market
Shares of Public Storage rose 2.30% to $320.10 Monday, on what proved to be an all-around positive trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index rising 1.86% to 3,973.75 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 1.98% to 31,880.24. This was the stock's third consecutive day of gains. Public Storage closed $101.66 short of its 52-week high ($421.76), which the company reached on April 21st.
The stock demonstrated a mixed performance when compared to some of its competitors Monday, as Extra Space Storage Inc. rose 1.73% to $174.34, Life Storage Inc. rose 2.46% to $112.51, and PS Business Parks Inc. fell 0.20% to $187.17. Trading volume (697,814) remained 68,833 below its 50-day average volume of 766,647.
