Many people simply associate the worth of a company with the profits that it earns, as higher profits mean higher returns. This is why no matter what a company earns, there is pressure on consistent growth on sales and profits. Many people also believe that if a company continues to make losses year after year, its existence will be in doubt and it will have to declare bankruptcy.
