The highlight event of the month was the Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole Economic Summit, where Fed Chair Jerome Powell was expected to set the tone for the central bank's interest rate cut cycle. Powell didn't disappoint and commented that the "upside risks to inflation have diminished. And the downside risks to employment have increased" which leads him to conclude that the "time has come for policy to adjust. The direction of travel is clear, and the timing and pace of rate cuts will depend on incoming data, the evolving outlook, and the balance of risks."
