Ottawa has promised that Rogers Communications Inc.‘s takeover over of Shaw Communications Inc. will result in lower wireless prices for consumers, but industry watchers are skeptical that prices will come down despite the extensive list of conditions attached to the deal.
“The lower cost services, you may see some savings but for the high-speed, higher-end and more comprehensive plan packages, I don’t think we’re going to see a difference at all,” said Richard Powers, an associate business professor at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
