Shareholders in LendingClub (NYSE:LC) are in the red if they invested five years ago
We think intelligent long term investing is the way to go. But unfortunately, some companies simply don't succeed. To wit, the LendingClub Corporation (NYSE:LC) share price managed to fall 67% over five long years. We certainly feel for shareholders who bought near the top. We also note that the stock has performed poorly over the last year, with the share price down 44%. The falls have accelerated recently, with the share price down 20% in the last three months.
It's worthwhile assessing if the company's economics have been moving in lockstep with these underwhelming shareholder returns, or if there is some disparity between the two. So let's do just that.
