Aultman reaffirms commitment to Canton community as other hospital systems merge
The Aultman Health Foundation in Canton says it is focused on remaining independent and locally operated.
CANTON − Aultman Hospital has been providing health care since before the discovery of penicillin and the invention of X-rays.
Stark County's first hospital opened in 1892 after a 4.5-acre donation from Elizabeth Harter and Katherine Barron Aultman ― the daughter and second wife, respectively, of local businessman Cornelius Aultman. It has since grown into a regional health care system that includes AultCare insurance, a nursing college and facilities in Tuscarawas, Carroll, Holmes and Wayne counties.
