Apple Inc. stock outperforms market on strong trading day
Shares of Apple Inc. rose 2.44% to $154.50 Friday, on what proved to be an all-around dismal trading session for the stock market, with the NASDAQ Composite Index falling 1.59% to 12,006.95 and Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 0.38% to 33,926.01. This was the stock's fourth consecutive day of gains. Apple Inc. closed $25.11 short of its 52-week high ($179.61), which the company achieved on March 30th.
The stock outperformed some of its competitors Friday, as Microsoft Corp. fell 2.36% to $258.35, Alphabet Inc. Cl C fell 3.29% to $105.22, and Alphabet Inc. Cl A fell 2.75% to $104.78. Trading volume (153.3 M) eclipsed its 50-day average volume of 75.7 M.
