Apple Inc. stock rises Wednesday, still underperforms market
Shares of Apple Inc. rose 1.35% to $153.04 Wednesday, on what proved to be an all-around positive trading session for the stock market, with the NASDAQ Composite Index rising 1.58% to 11,897.65 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.15% to 31,874.84. This was the stock's second consecutive day of gains. Apple Inc. closed $29.90 below its 52-week high ($182.94), which the company reached on January 4th.
The stock outperformed some of its competitors Wednesday, as Microsoft Corp. rose 1.06% to $262.27, Alphabet Inc. Cl A rose 0.08% to $113.90, and International Business Machines Corp. fell 1.30% to $129.18. Trading volume (64.5 M) remained 27.0 million below its 50-day average volume of 91.6 M.
